Made during the 2023 Fireside Game Jam, Spirit Odyssey is a top-down navigation game inspired by East Asian art and fantasy. My contributions involved designing the UI/UX and creating the UI and 2D art.

The initial visual concepts and playable prototype was done during the game jam and won us 3rd place out of 105 entries.

Embrace the role of a spirit guide as you navigate and lead lost souls back to their celestial homes. Swiftly guide your boat to collect and bring spirits home by clicking on the water around the boat. Avoid hitting the star whales as you unlock more boats and more spirits to bring home. Beware, as too many lost spirits will lead to game over.
Using references from East Asian mythology, I incorporated elements common in East Asian art such as swirls, clouds, and florals into the shape language of our UI elements. Iconography was a big focus as we wanted them to feel cohesive but distinguishable enough as the board gets progressively busier with each new spirit unlocked.
